January change of pace
It’s maintenance time! The last jollities of New Year done and dusted, so up early, on with the wellies and out into the orchard to get the polytunnel up (all year greens for me, breakfast for guests, and a little wind-free spot for some chosen cut flowers), the drainage ditch dug, nettles out and the new flower beds designed and prepared. Oops. Lots to be done, but with a temporary closure so I can fill the breakfast room with tools, wellies, thick socks and mud with no guests to trip over it all, I have got what feel like long delightful days to dip in and out of the various tasks. Today, doors for the polytunnel and rose pruning. It’ll be worth it in the summer! A little bit more colour to add to the views over the fields..
