Dog-friendly

Dogs are very welcome at Newchester Farmhouse B&B, assuming they are well behaved. There are only 2 rooms where dogs can join their owners at night (the Ash and Garden rooms) so please check in advance when you book. I don’t have a dog myself, only because I can’t bear the pleading eyes every morning when I am busiest, but I try and make the house a relaxed place to be with dogs.

I do have hens though, so dogs will sadly need to be on a lead in the garden during the main part of the day, when the hens go awol around the place. First thing and after dusk they are safely locked up so dogs can have more of a gallop around the garden. In fact they are encouraged to do so, to discourage the fox.

The area is awash with dogs and dog lovers, so you are spoiled for places to walk, and places to eat where dogs are welcome. All local pubs and cafes accept dogs. I have maps of local walks, and Ham Hill and the Prince of Wales pub are the best place to walk a dog for hours.
