Newchester Farmhouse is in Merriott in South Somerset just off the A303 which runs from London down to Devon and Cornwall. We are about 15 minutes from Yeovil to the east, Ilminster to the west, and due south of South Petherton.

I am in the process of proving I am a business to Google in order to be put on the map. Currently Google and SatNavs put you in the right area, but too far down the hill, right by the Texaco garage, about 100 yards away. We are the second house into Merriott from Lopen on the road. Entering the village from Lopen, just after you pass the Merriott and 30 mph signs, turn into the drive with large wooden gates, right opposite the first traffic calming chicane.

You should see the hanging B and B sign. If you’ve got to the Texaco garage you’ve gone too far (from Lopen), or not far enough (from Crewkerne).

By Car from the East
(A30/Crewkerne)

Come into the village on the main road. Pass the Co-op on the left and further up the Texaco garage. Shortly after you pass the village hall on the right and Church Street on the left, you will see a traffic calming chicane asking you to give way to oncoming traffic. You should see a B&B sign on the house wall just beyond.

Turn left just after you’ve passed through this chicane

By Train
London to Exeter line

The nearest train station is Crewkerne, on the London Waterloo to Exeter line. Trains run hourly and if you need a taxi you need to have booked in advance (or call me) as taxis only go when booked.

It is also possible to rent cars from Yeovil (the station before Crewkerne). Some of them will pick you up at the station if you negotiate on booking.
